- Appropriate hunting attire. Long sleeves and jacket/sweatshirt if coming between October and March
- Snake boots if hunting at our South Texas ranch
- Bug spray
- Toiletries
- Cooler
- A rifle, or you can utilize your guide's rifle
- A plentiful amount of ammunition
- Sunscreen
- Hiking boots for West Texas
- Bipod and shooting sticks/tripod
- Binoculars and spotting scope are not needed but suggested.
- We have an on-site range to sight in your rifle
Are The Hunts Guided?
All of our hunts are fully guided by one of our qualified hunting guides to give you the optimal results and experience.
What type of hunting license do I need for a guided hunting trip in Texas?
If you are hunting cats, varmints, and exotics, non-resident hunters will need a non-resident 5-day special hunting license (type 157), which can be purchased at any Texas sporting goods store or Walmart. Youth license for under 17 yrs. old; resident or non-resident (type 169). Texas residents will also need a general hunting license. For hunting whitetail deer, you will need a Resident Hunting (type 101) or General Non-Resident Hunting (type 105). Please refer to this Texas Parks and Wildlife link for more details.
How is the hunt done?
We primarily do spot and stalk hunting.

How many hunters at a time?
Our lodge comfortably sleeps 20 guests at a time.
Can you bring non-hunters?
Non-hunters are welcome for an additional charge of $250/ day.
What airport do you fly into?
Corpus Christi/South Texas

Do you provide transportation to/from the airport?
We provide transportation from Corpus Christi Airport (CRP) to our South Texas location. We are unable to provide transportation to our West Texas location at this time.
What happens with the meat/mount? Do you offer taxidermy services?
Your guides will field dress and quarter your meat for travel and prepare your cape and horns for the taxidermist. We have a meat processor and a taxidermist that we recommend.
Can we add extra days or extra animals to hunt?
Extra days and animals based on availability
What is the cancellation policy?
A 50% deposit per hunter is required to book the trip. Deposits will be applied to re-booking if a 30-day advance notice of cancellation is given. NO REFUND or credit will be given if less than 30 days' notice of cancellation is given. Balance is due 30 days before the hunt.
What is provided with the cost of the hunt?
We want your hunting experience with MCO to be one of relaxation and enjoyment. Our lodge is equipped with WiFi, ice machines, a washer and a dryer. We have an on-site chef dedicated to providing three premium meals a day. Stay hydrated with a full range of beverages and grab a snack as we head out to fulfill your hunting dreams.

Is the guided hunting trip in Texas handicap friendly?
Mellon Creek Outfitters is handicap friendly, but please reach out to us before your hunt so that we can make any adjustments needed prior to your arrival. Our South Texas location is equipped for our handicap clients. We are unable to make full accommodations at our West Texas locations at this time.
What is the customary gratuity for guides and chef?
The highest praise we can get is your recommendation of us to your friends and family!
Gratuity is not mandatory but is very much appreciated. If you are pleased with your experience at MCO, then the average tip is 20%.
What facilities does our lodge provide?
Our lodge is equipped with WiFi, ice machines, a washer and dryer. Our clients enjoy retreating to our well-furnished hotel-style rooms during their stay with us.
