South Texas Hog/Pig Hunting
Hog hunting is a unique and exciting experience with Mellon Creek Outfitters. With an estimated 2.6 million feral hogs in Texas, they have become a large nuisance and problem to farmers and ranchers alike, but have opened up an opportunity for hunters to help locals out. Mellon Creek is a working ranch, and keeping the hog/pig population in check is vital to our operation. Mellon Creek Outfitters is located on the outskirts of Refugio, Texas, just northeast of Corpus Christi, Texas. The terrain varies from bay front and prairieland to saltgrass, crop fields, and thick brush, providing a diverse landscape for the hogs to thrive. Because of our variety of other animal hunting seasons, we don’t offer hog hunting year-round. Contact us to find out when we have openings!
Hog Hunt Details
Our hog hunts are a 3-day hunt. All hunts start on the evening of the day you arrive, and you will hunt the following two full days, the last morning, and conclude at noon. Guides will take all hunters to our range to sight in and check their rifles before hunting. Shipping to our recommended taxidermist is included. We will ship to you or your taxidermist for an additional fee. Our hog hunts are mostly done over feeders and safari style, spot and stalk with shots made with shooting sticks, or prone. We typically hunt the first 2-4 hours and last 2-4 hours of daylight, depending on the time of year.
No hunting license for hogs is required on private land.
